Oh Beer Me! Local Events 1/26-2/3

Hello, Dear Reader. It’s my goal right now to provide beer news and stories for the Eugene area beer scene. This site moves at a snail’s pace compared to other beer news websites, but I’d like to think the content is good. As a small service to both businesses and patrons of said businesses, I decided to compile an events calendar, which I’ve done a crap job of promoting. I visit a lot of websites to get the info. If a brewery/taproom doesn’t have an active events page, or doesn’t let me know otherwise, their events won’t show up here. I’m not playing favorites.

In an effort to get the word out about all the cool things going on around town, I’ll do a weekly digest post of upcoming events for the next week or so, along with a paragraph or two of my own recent thoughts about beer (because I can). There may be some sidelong highlighting of select “high profile” events, like:

It’s my understanding that Mountain Sun Pub & Brewery in Boulder, CO started the whole February is Stout Month thing. That could be a fiction, and I could easily credit Fort George. I’m too busy to google it. It’s been a “thing” long enough that it’s accepted as a national, ordained, commodified holiday like Valentine’s Day (also in February) or People With Double Jointed Thumbs Week.

Is stout still scary to some people? There’s a lot of pale beer going around right now, and I’d hate to think that pints of chocolatey-nutty-licoricey stout are going un-drunk. Oakshire’s got a few of their all-the-fixins’ stouts coming out next weekend with Dark Days of February and a sold out Brunch in Hell at The Bier Stein; those beers may scare some folks off, what with the cool veiny eyeball on the Hellshire label and double-digit abvs. Not me! Those Oakshire folks are people pleasers, though; they threw a Doppelbock into the mix!

OK, here’s what to do:
